• Preparing to learn

  • Setting the stage, and creating a constructive environment for learning is of equal importance to the learning content being presented to the participants
  • It’s vital to establish clear expectations for participants regarding what they will and will not learn both about AI, and from engaging in the deliberative process.
  • It is still not clear how much a person needs to know about AI to develop informed recommendations for AI, and we suggest the level of knowledge required is likely to vary depending on the questions being asked.
  • The learning cultures of AI vary greatly, with its theoretical aspects often taught in abstraction, while its societal impacts, such as bias and discrimination, are typically rooted in concrete, real-world experiences.
